<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulator for a stator, capable of preventing dragging of an end edge of an insulator member in advance when a coil is wound; and to provide a rotating electric machine using the insulator. <P>SOLUTION: Cut portions 7 are formed from one end side of an axial direction toward the center on a specific teeth portion 2B of a stator core 2A, and legs of a position detection sensor are accommodated in the cut portions 7, respectively. A first insulator member 110A is attached on the teeth portion 2b from the side having the cut portion 7, and a second insulator member 110B is attached on the teeth portion 2b from the opposite side. The first insulator member 110A is configured so that an extension length of an axial direction of a portion for covering the specific teeth portion 2B is made shorter than the extension length of a counterpart portion of the second insulator member 110B.
