PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator exclusive for small loads, successfully returning a car automatically by setting a standard stop position to a condition preferable for the certain day. SOLUTION: An operation control means H, with use of each of a plurality of manual operation setting means S installed at each of a plurality of stop positions of the liftable/lowerable car, seeks a current frequency of occurrence of car send commands commanding target stop positions for lifting/lowering the car, which has been positioned at the stop position where the operation setting means S is installed, to different stop positions, individually for each of the plurality of the operation setting means S. The stop position where the operation setting means S with high frequency of occurrence is installed among the plurality of the operation setting means S is taken to be the standard stop position. In a state where the car has stopped at a stop position different from the standard stop position, if a standby state, satisfying a setup standby condition where no command information is commanded from the plurality of the operation setting means S, continues setup standby time, the car is lifted/lowered to the standard stop position.
