<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic apparatus and a display method for a portable electronic apparatus to easily display an image based on user intention, in accordance with user operation. <P>SOLUTION: The portable electronic apparatus includes an operation part 11 to which a first type symbol and a plurality of second type symbols different from the first type symbol are assigned, and an input control part 21 for inputting at least the first type symbol or the second type symbols in response to an operation of the operation part 11 and inputting any one of the second type symbols in response to the number of consecutive operations of the operation part.
