<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic control system, a vehicle travel control apparatus, and a traffic control method capable of reducing congestion by suppressing propagation of deceleration without predicting deceleration of a preceding vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: A vehicle control ECU 16 calculates a communication-vehicle to communication-vehicle time T<SB>c</SB>between a preceding communication vehicle 101 and a following communication vehicle 102, and controls driving of the following communication vehicle 102 to conform a start time of deceleration of the preceding communication vehicle 101 obtained by radio communication to a start time of deceleration of the following communication vehicle 102 relating to the following communication vehicle 102 whose communication-vehicle to communication-vehicle time T<SB>c</SB>is not larger than a predetermined value and having possibility of amplifying the propagation of deceleration. The following communication vehicle 102 can start deceleration simultaneously with the preceding communication vehicle 101 by knowing the deceleration of the preceding communication vehicle 101 without delay by communication. Thereby the propagation of deceleration can be suppressed and the congestion can be reduced without a need for predicting deceleration of a preceding vehicle because amplification of the propagation of deceleration can be severed at a portion of the following communication vehicle 102. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
