SOLUTION: The elevator control system 10 includes: a car door side engagement part 32 arranged in the car door 34 and engaged with a landing door side engagement part 22; detection sensors 40, 44 placed at approach detection positions located on the upstream side of the operation relative to the position of the landing door side engagement part 22 located on the downstream side of the operation of a car 14, and outputting an approach detection signal when a space between the car door side engagement part 32 and the landing sidewall surface 13 is equal to or less than a safety space C<SB>0</SB>; and confirmation sensors 42, 46 arranged in a hoistway 12, that are placed at approach confirmation positions located on the downstream side of the operation from the approach detection positions and on the upstream side of the operation relative to the position of the landing door side engagement part 22 and output an approach confirmation signal when the space between the car door side engagement part 32 and the landing sidewall surface 13 is smaller than or equal to the safety space C<SB>0</SB>.
