PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet processing device including a spherical body train arranged where a fold increasing roller is driven, for applying strong stress given by stress concentration to sheets to reduce a folding height, and a deflection release part for preventing the occurrence of wrinkles. SOLUTION: Sheets which are carried from an image forming device X and on which images are formed are carried from a sheet receiving port to a folding device of the sheet processing device Y. To be carried to a post-processing device on the downstream side without being folded, the sheets are discharged directly from a sheet carry-out port by a first change-over pawl 121. To be folded, the sheets are guided to carrying passages inside the folding device by the first change-over pawl 121 where folding operations in half, Z, outside three, inside three, simple four, and side-by-side four are performed. A folding mechanism includes a roller having a drive, spherical bodies grounded on the roller and rotatable in linkage therewith, and a spherical body group guide member which can slide the spherical bodies and on which a spherical body group consisting of the plurality of spherical bodies can be arranged and held.
