PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet detecting device for detecting sheets while improving the workability of attaching/detaching a member (such as a discharge tray or an exterior member) provided near an actuator part, and an image forming device equipped therewith. SOLUTION: The sheet detecting device 200 for detecting sheets includes the actuator part 210 freely turnable around a turn axis 210a to take either a projecting attitude projecting into a detection regionαfor detecting a sheet P or an evacuating attitude evacuating from the detection regionα, and an operation part 220 for selecting an evacuating condition of setting the actuator part 210 into the evacuating attitude or a projecting condition of setting the actuator part 210 into the projecting attitude.
