A coil residual life predicting method according to the present invention includes: a first step of checking whether or not cooling water from a conductor leaks to an insulating layer, and executing measurement necessary for estimating a breakdown voltage of a coil if the conductor cooling water leaks to the insulating layer to non-destructively estimate a breakdown voltage of a coil; a second step of non-destructively estimating a curve showing a future decrease in coil breakdown voltage; and a third step of extrapolating data obtained in the first and second steps to determine a period necessary for the breakdown voltage to drop down to a voltage necessary for operating the coil. According to this method, it is possible to provide a coil residual life predicting method capable of non-destructively estimating a breakdown voltage of an insulating layer and predicting a residual life based on the estimated breakdown voltage without removing a coil where an internal electrode is provided in an insulating layer.
