[Class 53] Associated carbon and zinc plates C, Z and " bibulous " elements such as a separator S and de-polarizer-mix cake M are stacked to form a battery, each cell being isolated from adjacent cells by a sheathing W at the edges extending partly over the flat faces of the cell elements, of thin flexible and impervious natural or synthetic rubberlike stretchable material. The number of the cell plates, enclosed in each wrapping with the " bibulous ", elements may be varied. The stack is maintained under pressure to seal the edges against escape of electrolyte. |
