PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slitter excellent in stability in moving in the vicinity of a web cutting position and capable of improving slitting quality, and a method of manufacturing a magnetic tape using the slitter. SOLUTION: The slitter 1 for cutting the web 15 includes a driving roller 32 for carrying the web 15, a cutter 30 for cutting the web 15 and contact means 33 and 34 for bringing the web 15 into contact with the driving roller 32. The web 15 comes into contact with one driving roller 32 at a first contact position 38 and a second contact position 39 by the contact means 33 and 34.
