PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve user convenience when sequentially accumulating image data in a storage section such as an HDD temporarily. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus has: an image read section for reading a document and producing image data; a storage section for sequentially accumulating image data output by the image read section; a display section for displaying an image; and a control section which recognizes the remaining storage capacity of the storage section, obtains the number of readable sheets based on a data amount of image data per page and the remaining capacity when the remaining capacity becomes less than or equal to a predetermined a watch value, and causes the display section to display the number of readable sheets.
