Ocular allergy treatments using alcaftadine

An ophthalmic composition that comprises alcaftidine, also known as 6,11-dihydro-11-(1-methyl-4-piperidinylidene)-5H-imidazo [2,1-b] [3] benzazepine-3-carboxaldehyde (Formula I) or a compound of Formula II. The compounds are antagonists for the histamine H4 receptor. The ophthalmic compositions are used in the treatment of a symptom of ocular allergy, in particular allergic conjunctivitis or ocular inflammation.
