Disclosed is an illumination apparatus provided with LEDs (3) comprising: light emitting elements; and phosphors that are excited by light coming from the light emitting elements, and emit excitation light. The illumination apparatus is also provided with shielding sections (such as mounting sections (bottom faces (21)) and standing-state installing sections (22) of the LEDs (3), for example) for shielding light having different chromaticity than chromaticity that can be visually confirmed from the light of the light emitting elements and the excitation light, from among light radiated by the LEDs (3), at areas where the light having different chromaticity is radiated. Unevenness in color, due to having the light having different chromaticity illuminated, is thereby reduced.
