<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support system that is capable of more appropriate driving support for other vehicles crossing a path of own vehicle, while making a driver feel less annoyed. <P>SOLUTION: The driving support system provides driving support for other vehicles (oncoming vehicles 50, 51, and 52), crossing a path of own vehicle, to avoid effects caused by the vehicles. The driving support system attempts to obtain information on the oncoming vehicle 50, which is the first vehicle of the others (the oncoming vehicles 50, 51, and 52) and information on the subsequent oncoming vehicle 51.
