<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of disclination by a configuration in which pixels are turned on/off by subfield driving. <P>SOLUTION: An electro-optical device includes: a liquid crystal panel 100 including a plurality of pixels each of which has a liquid crystal element; a data line driving circuit 140 which turns on/off respective pixels by applying prescribed voltages to the liquid crystal elements of the plurality of pixels in accordance with a driving pattern according with a gray level in units of subfield, which is obtained by dividing one field into a plurality of subfields; and a determination unit 25 which determines whether a first pixel to be turned off is adjacent to a second pixel to be turned on or not. While applying a first voltage to the liquid crystal element corresponding to the first pixel and applying a second voltage higher than the first voltage to the liquid crystal element corresponding to the second pixel, the data line driving circuit 140 applies a third voltage higher than the first voltage and lower than the second voltage to the liquid crystal element of the first pixel determined to be adjacent to the second pixel by the determination unit 25. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
