<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spot weld monitoring apparatus and a joint evaluating method requiring no complex data analysis and enabling the quality of a spot welded joint to be evaluated in real time. <P>SOLUTION: A spot weld monitoring apparatus 1 for welding two metal plates W and W sandwiched between a pair of electrode tips C and C comprises: a pair of torches 2 and 2 each constituting a cylindrical shape having a bottom part 2a and a tip mounting part 2b and having in the hollow part thereof a water feed part 2c and a drainage part 2d; a water feed pipe 5 arranged in the hollow part of each torch 2 to guide cooling water from the water feed part 2c to an electrode tip C and to constitute a drainage channel 2f to guide cooling water to the drainage part 2d; a transmitting side ultrasound sensor 6 which transmits ultrasound to a joint Wa through the water feed pipe 5 on the side of one torch 2A; a receiving side ultrasound sensor 7 which receives through the water feed pipe 5 on the side of the other torch 2B the ultrasound having penetrated the joint Wa; and an evaluating section 3 which measures variations in the sound pressure of the wave having penetrated the joint Wa at the time of transmission/reception of ultrasound to determine the relative quality of the weld. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
