<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for discharging a fluid over a base layer which immediately gives an optimal coating performance, even after a slit length, i.e. a coating width is changed. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for discharging a fluid over a base layer includes a basic body (2), a fluid supply channel (8) connectable to a fluid source for feeding a fluid, and a nozzle mechanism (4) equipped with a distribution channel (38) communicating with the fluid supply channel (8) and a substantially elongate and slender slit (20) having at least one flow out opening (22) for discharging the fluid and communicating with the distribution channel (38). The effective length of the distribution channel (38) fillable with the fluid can be changed by movable blocking bodies (54) in the distribution channel (38).
