<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk array device capable of reducing power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: The disk array device includes a plurality of HDD extension casings capable of controlling power supply by a casing unit housing a plurality of HDDs configuring a RAID group, stops the operation of the HDD not accessed from a host computer for the fixed time and starts the operation of the HDD accessed from the host computer. The disk array device includes: a recording part for recording the power consumption of the HDDs for every predetermined period of time; a determination part for determining whether or not the overlap of operation stop time zones is a threshold or more for the two HDDs housed in the different HDD extension casings on the basis of the recorded power consumption of the HDDs; a rearrangement part for rearranging data so that the data of the two HDDs are present in one HDD extension casing when it is determined that the overlap of the operation stop time zones is the threshold or more; and a casing operation stop part for stopping the operation of the HDD extension casing when all the operations of the HDDs inside the HDD extension casing are stopped. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
