A METHOD TO CONTROL INSECTS RESISTANT TO COMMON INSECTICIDES USING SULFOXIMINES

Disclosed is a method to control certain insects that are known to be resistant to one or more insecticides selected from the group consisting of imidacloprid, thiamethoxam, acetamiprid, deltamethrin, dimethoate, pirimicarb or profenofos which comprises applying to a locus where control is desired an insect-inactivating amount of a compound of the formula (I), wherein X is nitro, cyano or CO2Alkyl; R1 is methyl or ethyl; L is a single bond or R1, S and L taken together form a 5- or 6-membered ring; R2 and R3 independently represent hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, fluoro, chloro or bromo; n is an integer from 0-3; Y is hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl, or a heteroaryl as defined herein. Further disclosed are methods to control insects such as aphids (Myzus persicae) or whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) which are known to be resistant to one or more insecticides selected from imidacloprid, thiamethoxam, acetamiprid, deltamethrin, dimethoate, pirimicarb or profenofos by applying to a locus where control of said insects is desired a compound as represented by the formulae (2) (1-(6-trifluoromethylpyridin-3-yl)ethyl)(methyl)-oxido-l4-sulfanylidenecyanamide), (4) ([(6-chloropyridin-3-yl)methyl](methyl)oxido-l4-sulfanylidene cyanamide) or (5) ([1-(6-chloropyridin-3-yl)ethyl](methyl)oxido-l4-sulfanylidene-cyanamide)) or their individual stereoisomers.
