An opening device which comprises a base plate 10 and a tab 1, in which the opening device is adapted, in use, to close an aperture 23 in a metal closure panel 21, with the base plate 10 on one side of the panel 21 and the tab 1 on the opposite side, and in which the base plate 10 and/or tab 1 further includes a wall which extends perpendicularly from the plate 10 or tab 1 respectively and provides an interference or friction fit with the edge of the aperture 23 so as to seal around the perimeter of the closure aperture 23. When the opening device is used in combination with a metal closure having a metal closure panel 21, actuation of the tab 1 translates into sliding movement of the base plate 10 relative to the closure panel 21. The closure panel 21 and opening device include complementary features which cooperate to guide movement of the opening device relative to the closure panel 21 during opening and reclosing. |
