PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine whether a document is a monochrome document or a color document without being affected by a tracking pattern even when the document is a printed matter embedded with a tracking pattern.

SOLUTION: An image processing device comprises: an image reading section 14 that scans a document and detects pixel values of a plurality of color components for each pixel; a pixel color determination section 19 that determines whether a color of each pixel is a specific color or not based on the pixel values of the plurality of color components for each pixel detected by the image reading section 14; an isolated point determination section 20 that determines whether each pixel is an isolated point or not based on the pixel values of the plurality of color components for each pixel detected by the image reading section 14; a document determination section 15 that determines whether the document is a color document or a monochrome document based on the pixel values of the plurality of color components for each pixel detected by the image reading section 14 with handling a pixel as a monochrome pixel, a color of the pixel having been determined to be a specific color by the pixel color determination section 19 and the pixel also being determined to be an isolated point by the isolated point determination section 20.
