PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston stroke discriminating apparatus for a general-purpose engine that discriminates strokes of a four-cycle engine including intake, compression, expansion and exhaust strokes, without detecting intake pressure.
SOLUTION: The piston stroke discriminating apparatus for a general-purpose engine includes: a crank angle sensor generating an output by a predetermined crank angle for each rotation of a crankshaft rotated in synchronization with a piston reciprocating in a cylinder; and an intake temperature sensor detecting a temperature of intake air taken into the engine. It is determined whether engine operation is in a stable state or not (S10 to S12). When the determination result is YES, intake temperature mean values detected during continuous first, second, and third outputs of the crank angle sensor are compared. When the intake temperature mean value detected between the first output and the second output is smaller than the intake temperature mean value detected between the second output and the third output, it is determined that a stroke continuous to the predetermined crank angle where the first output is generated is the intake and compression strokes (S14 to S20).
COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
