PURPOSE: A video calling method and a mobile terminal using the same are provided to enable a user to use a video call with high quality by synthesizing a calling video with a real-time image of an external device, supporting a video call through an external display device, and controlling a 3D depth of an image. CONSTITUTION: A mobile terminal photographs a user image(S1210). The mobile terminal receives a user voice(S1230). The mobile terminal transmits and receives image and voice data of a user and a recipient(S1250). The mobile terminal outputs the voice data of the recipient(S1270). The mobile terminal transmits the received image data of the recipient to an external display device(S1291). The mobile terminal generates a control signal to visually output the image of the recipient from the external display device(S1293).
