Amplifying signals in heterogeneous binding assays based on a donor or receptor complex (1) made of a receptor molecule (10) and a donor molecule (20), which is bound by the receptor molecule, comprises: (a) forming donor or receptor complex; (b) adding at least one particle of a first particle class to the donor or receptor complex, where at least one particle of first particle class (n) is coupled with the donor or receptor complex, the particles of the first particle class further comprises binding site; and (d) optionally repeating the steps, preferably the step (b) and (c) at least once.
