METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PREVENTING EDGE CRACK OF PIECE DURING CONTINUOUS CASTING

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for preventing an edge crack on a slab during the continuous casting is provided to prevent the edge cracks by decreasing the temperature of a corner portion of the slab on a discharge side of a continuous casting machine. CONSTITUTION: A method for preventing edge cracks on a slab roughly milled through a continuous casting machine is as follows. Coolants are sprayed from the continuous casting machine to corner portion of the slab at a speed of 2~5l/min. Air is sprayed at the speed of 4~6 Nm^3/(S101,S102). The corner portion of the slab corresponds to 1/6 of the width length of the slab.
