PURPOSE: An image encoding/decoding method using a feature vector of an adjacent block and a device thereof are provided to predict an intra mode using a feature vector of an image, thereby increasing successful prediction possibility. CONSTITUTION: An image decoder(500) generates a prediction block using an intra prediction mode extracted from a bit stream. The image decoder extracts a feature vector from a pixel of an adjacent block. The image decoder uses the best prediction mode as an intra prediction mode by referring to feature vector distribution of a set image to generate a prediction block. The image decoder restores a current block.
