PURPOSE: An electrophoretic display apparatus and method for controlling the same is provided to remarkably reduce manufacturing costs of electrophoretic display apparatus by reducing expensive data channel number. CONSTITUTION: A pixel unit(140) includes pixels with electrophoretic cells. The pixels are arranged with matrix type. A gate driving unit(120) outputs generated first and second gate signals. A data driving unit(130) outputs a generated data voltage to the pixels. A timing driving unit(110) outputs a data signal and a data driving control signal to a data driving unit.
