The tool has sensors for sensing noise emitted by a motor vehicle in an audible portion of sound spectrum, and airborne ultrasonic noise sensors (20) for capturing noises emitted by the motor vehicle in the ultrasonic portion of the sound spectrum. A transformation unit transforms signal received by the airborne ultrasonic noise sensors into signal equivalent in the audible portion of the sound spectrum. A loudspeaker authorizes listening in the audible portion of the sound spectrum.
