Disclosed is a safety means for protection against chain saw injury. The safety means comprises clothing (8) containing electrically conductive material and a proximity sensor. The electrically conductive material is contained within or upon a selected area of the clothing (8). The conductive material is adapted to communicate with the sensing means such that if part of an apparatus (6) contacts the electrically conductive material an electrical circuit is completed and the apparatus (6) is stopped or braked or both.
