PURPOSE: A light emitting device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve light extraction efficiency by forming an inclined plane around the light emitting device. CONSTITUTION: A light emitting structure(120) is formed on a support substrate(160). The light emitting structure comprises a first conductivity type semiconductor layer(122), an active layer(124), and a second conductivity semiconductor layer(126). A barrier layer(180) is formed on a lower portion of the light emitting structure. A bonding layer(200) is formed on the lower portion of the barrier layer. A conductive layer(170) is formed on the lower portion of the barrier layer.
