PURPOSE: A battery maintenance apparatus and a method are provided to impart a user-oriented system by effectively interfacing information about overheating of a guide bar. CONSTITUTION: A battery maintenance apparatus and a method comprises an image module(110) generating infrared ray images about a guide bar which connects a plurality of batteries each other, and a storage part(120) in which standard color information judging overheating of a guide bar, and a control part(130) judging overheating of the secondary battery cell by comparing color information in the infrared ray images and the standard color information. The image module generates infrared ray images about a plurality of guide bars.
