The fuel cell (34) has a stack of cells including an anode/cathode assembly (4) equipped with electrodes separated by electrolyte. The stack of cells is framed by electrically conducting bipolar plates (6). A clamping plate (12) maintains and tightens the stack of cells. The conducting bipolar plate located directly against the clamping plate is a monopolar collector plate (30). The monopolar collector plate includes a central connection terminal (10) for conduction of electric current toward an external electrical cable.
