<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chopper device that reconciles an improved response in control and a suppressed energy loss and heat generation of a switching element. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of chopper sections 5, 6 are connected in series, at least one of the plurality of chopper sections 5, 6 is a high carrier frequency chopper section 6 having a higher carrier frequency than the other chopper section 5, and the high carrier frequency chopper section 6 has a shorter control period. The other chopper section 5 outputs a voltage serving as a voltage command value for the chopper device.
