<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively acquire a latest apparatus state of a compound machine connected to a network from the outside of the network, in a state of securing security. <P>SOLUTION: A representative compound machine 1 comprises: a facsimile communication part 20; a network communication part 31; an apparatus state acquisition part 11a; and an apparatus state response part 11c. The apparatus state acquisition part 11a receives an apparatus state request related to acquisition of apparatus states of a first management object device 2 and a second management object device 3 in a network system 100 from a management PC 6 according to a facsimile procedure. When receiving the apparatus state request, the apparatus state acquisition part 11a acquires the apparatus states from the first management object device 2 and the second management object device 3 through a LAN 5 in a state of continuing the facsimile communication with the management PC 6.
