摘要 541,178. Boat frames. MORRIS, C.V. March 11, 1940, No. 4519. [Class 113 (ii)] A tubular metallic framework for a boat comprises a series of longitundial members, preferably of high tensile steel, including a keel member 1, two chine members 2,' and two deck-rail members 3, the longitudinal members being braced by means of a number of transverse frame tubes 4, while the complete frame structure supports a wooden or other skin or shell. At their junctions the frame members are united by welding or by means of T or angle pieces, and the skin, if of metal, may also be welded to the tubular frame. Where a wooden skin is provided this is secured to the frame by means of screws and bolts passing through the skin into the frame, while, in addition, a number of longitudinal wooden stringers 18 may be provided; which are secured to the frame by metal clips and support the strakes 20. As on alternative the skin may be formed of a rubber reinforced fabric. Additional longitudinal and transverse tubes, as indicated at 22, 29, may be provided for reinforcement or support at certain points, e.g. where the engine 31 is mounted, or the floor-boards 30 are disposed.
