<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology that allows a device connected to a network to obtain the IP address of a communication device even if processing to transmit the IP address is not executed. <P>SOLUTION: If a multifunctional device 10 receives an IP address inquiry signal to inquire an IP address from a PC 300 connected to a network and determines that the IP address of the multifunctional device 10 is not registered with a DNS server 220, it transmits its IP address to the PC 300.
