<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveform equalization device which suppresses power consumption by reducing a coefficient updating cycle to reflection waves with little change. <P>SOLUTION: A waveform equalization device includes a filter portion 100 having one or more different filters to an input signal; an error detecting portion 200 for detecting an error by comparing output from the filter portion 100 with an expected value; a coefficient updating portion 400 for producing a filter tap coefficient value of the filter portion 100 from an error signal; and an error control portion 300 for comparing the filter tap coefficient value of the coefficient updating portion 400 with a threshold value, and controlling a period during which the error signal to be sent to the coefficient updating portion 400 is stopped when the filter tap coefficient value is smaller than the threshold value, as an updating cycle. By providing a plurality of threshold value comparators on the error control portion 300, and stopping coefficient updating about each of filters, the calculation of the filter tap coefficient values which are unnecessary to be updated can be stopped.
