The present invention shows a radiation-induced grafted copolymer obtained by radiation-induced graft copolymerization of the vinyl acetate in the PHB, using the simultaneous irradiation method. The copolymer is designed with the purpose of being used in the biomedical engineering field, specifically in the microencapsulation of drugs for the sustained release in the human body. The radiation-induced grafted copolymer P(HB-g-Vac) comprises: (1)- the base polymer (PHB) and (2)- the monomer grafted to the base polymer (Vac), this latter element is converted into a polymer (PVac) upon grafting.
