Use of at least one arginase inhibitor as an agent for slowing down hair loss, eyebrows and/or eyelashes, is claimed. An independent claim is included for treating human keratin fibers comprising hair, eyebrows and/or eyelashes, for slowing down the fibers, comprising applying the cosmetic composition and the arginase inhibitor directly to the scalp and/or the keratin fibers, leaving this composition in contact with scalp and/or the keratin fibers, and optionally rinsing the scalp and/or the fibers.
