#CMT# #/CMT# The system (1) has an electric motor (7) e.g. asynchronous motor, including a stator (71) integrated into a console (5A) that supports an end (31) of a drum (3). A rotor (72) is in direct contact with the drum, where a ratio of length (L) of the rotor measured along an axis (A) of the electric motor and diameter of the rotor is less than 0.3 and nominal torque of the electric motor is 35 Newton meter (Nm). The length of the motor is about 75 mm, and the diameter of the rotor is about 200 mm. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a drive system. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Drive system for rotating a drum for winding a curtain of flexible material for a handling door at a frontage of a building. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The rotor of the electric motor is in direct contact with the drum, without requiring a reducer, thus improving the performance and reliability of the drive system.
