<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which generates no stain on the back side of a print sheet caused by toner having a reverse polarity or an inadequate charging state within deteriorated toner in print execution just after forced toner consumption processing. <P>SOLUTION: In a sequence of forced toner consumption processing, during a period A (t1 to t2) in which a toner image for forced toner consumption passes a secondary transfer part, a secondary transfer roller 26 is applied a voltage 49 having a polarity reverse to a polarity of a normal polarity voltage 51 at a time of normal transfer. After the reverse polarity voltage application processing step, before transferring a normal toner image on a recording member at the secondary transfer part, during a period C (t2 to t2') for rotating the secondary transfer roller 26 at least one time, the secondary transfer roller 26 is applied a weak normal polarity intermediate voltage 52 having a polarity same as the polarity of the normal polarity voltage 51.
