ROUTE GUIDANCE SYSTEM AND ROUTE GUIDANCE METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a route guidance system and a route guidance method capable of guiding more effective traveling by using an in-vehicle device and a communication terminal.

SOLUTION: A navigation device 3 loaded on a vehicle 2 and a communication terminal 4 owned by an occupant of the vehicle 2 are connected each other in a two-way communicable state. The navigation device 3 is configured so as to select and set any one mode out of a plurality of modes including "route guidance mode" for guiding traveling based on a guidance route to be a route up to a destination of the vehicle 2. When the "route guidance mode" is set in the navigation device 3, the communication terminal 4 guides peripheral information of the vehicle 2 (S16), and when a mode other than the "route guidance mode" is set in the navigation device 3, the communication terminal 4 guides traveling based on the guidance route (S21).
