PURPOSE: A heat pump system is provided to improve the coefficient of performance, and to properly produce hot water in a heating or cooling mode. CONSTITUTION: As to a heat pump system, a compressor, a four way valve, an indoor heat exchanger, a cooling expansion valve, and an outdoor heat exchanger are connected by refrigerant pipes in order. The heat pump system comprises a basic refrigerating cycle(10), a hot water heating circuit(20), an auxiliary heat exchanger(32), a heat exchanger(31), a defrosting and cooling unit(30), and a function improving unit(40). The hot water heating circuit is installed between the compressor and the four way valve. The auxiliary heat exchanger is installed at the outdoor heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is installed in a heat source reservoir. The function improving unit is installed between the indoor heat exchanger and the four way valve.
