PURPOSE: A composition containing ilaprazole or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof is provided to effectively suppress cancer cells. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating cancer contains ilaprazole of chemical formula 1 or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof as an active ingredient. The ilaprazole of chemical formula 1 is 2-[[(4-methoxy-3-methyl)-2-pyridinyl]methyl sulfinyl]-5-(1H-pyrrole-1-yl)-1H-benzimidazole. The composition additionally contains pharmaceutically acceptable carriers. The pharmaceutical composition is manufactured in the form of powder, granules, tablets, pills, capsules, liquids, gels, syrups, suspensions, and wafers.
