PURPOSE: A lithium secondary battery is provided to obtain high power performance and low temperature properties required for electric and hybrid electric vehicles while obtaining energy density properties which are the same as existing lithium secondary batteries using amorphous carbon. CONSTITUTION: A lithium secondary battery comprises: a positive electrode which comprises a positive electrode active material with a layered structure represented by chemical formula 1: Li_x(Ni_vMn_wCo_yM_z)O_(2-t)A_t, and of which an average particle diameter to capacity is 0.03-0.1 micron/mAh; a negative electrode which comprises crystalline graphite and amorphous carbon as a negative electrode active materials, and of which content of the amorphous carbon is 40-100 weight% based on the total weight of the negative electrode active material; and a separator. In chemical formula 1, 0.8<x<=1.3, 0<=v<=0.9, 0<=w<=0.9, 0<=y<=0.9, 0<=z<=0.9, x+v+w+y+z=2, 0<=t<0.2, M is one or more transition metals or transition metal cations of which an oxidation number is (+2) to (+4), and A is an anion of which an oxidation number is (-1) or (-2). |
