PURPOSE: A quantity determining device through image analysis and a method thereof are provided to automatically calculate numbers based on an image of products having a circular cross-section, thereby increasing work performance of management of an inventory and a factory. CONSTITUTION: A data storing unit(16) stores and matches with a product kind and real diameter data for the product kind. A control unit(22) determines a closed curve through edge recognition of an image photographed by a camera(4) and determines a product diameter classified by the closed curve. The control unit recognizes the number of products and a product kind through the product diameter and compares current product information through product inventory information and image analysis extracted from the data storing unit and automatically calculates the number of lost products and a lost product kind.
