PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file management device capable of automatically and accurately managing a status of a file.

SOLUTION: The file management device includes a control section 10 for managing the status of a file to be processed in a processing unit, and a tag associated with the file and representing the status of the file is stored in an HDD 13 which is a storage device. The control section 10 includes: an analysis part 103 for analyzing information transmitted from the processing unit; and an update part 105 for specifying the status to be provided to the file on the basis of the analysis result and updating the tag using the specified status.
