Provided are a communication system, a base station apparatus, a mobile station apparatus and a communication method that can reduce interferences between adjacent cells having no collaborative relationship with each other. A communication system of the invention comprises a base station apparatus and a mobile station apparatus. The base station apparatus notifies the mobile station apparatus of a downlink control information format including resource placement information, which instruct to switch between a centralized placement and a distributed placement as a resource placement of an uplink demodulated reference signal, and also including a frequency offset of the distributed placement of the uplink demodulated reference signal unique to the mobile station apparatus. In accordance with the information included in the downlink control information format, the mobile station apparatus determines, on the basis of the frequency offset of the mobile station apparatus, the resource placement of the uplink demodulated reference signal if the distributed placement has been instructed by the resource placement information, and transmits the uplink demodulated reference signal to the base station apparatus.
