466,341. Vehicle spring-suspensions; rubber springs. AUTO UNION AKT.-GES. Feb. 8, 1937, Nos. 3745 and 3746. Convention dates, Feb. 8, 1936 and Sept. 9, 1936. Addition to 456,330. [Classes 108 (ii) and 108 (iii)] The vehicle wheel suspensions described in the parent Specification are modified so that the axle member guided in the frame is directly connected to a frame member by a rubber prismatic member which is subjected to shear stresses in the direction of its surfaces of adhesion. Fig. 1 shows an arrangement in which the lower link 9 of a parallel linkage is extended and provided with a curved plate 8a on to which and a plate 24a on the frame 24 is secured a prismatic rubber member 2 by means of adhesion plates 3, 4 provided with hooked portions 14. Fig. 2 shows an arrangement employing two half axles 9 pivoted to a central frame member 17, the half axles being sprung by the rubber members 2 having a common adhesion plate 3 adjustably carried by the frame 17. Fig. 5 shows an arrangement in which the axle is carried by parallel linkage 9 and both the axle 26 and frame 6 are provided with rigid stirrup members 3, 4 to which adheres a rubber member 2. Horns 3b, 4b are provided to act as buffers on excessive deflection of the wheel. |
