A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce a flicker by optimizing a common voltage with respect to a Vcom optimization reference portion on an LCD panel. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel(124) includes plural data lines, plural gate lines, plural liquid crystal cells, and a common electrode. A common voltage source generates a common voltage and supplies the common voltage to a common electrode. The common voltage is optimized with respect to a first display portion on the LCD panel. A modulator(125) modulates digital data to be displayed on first and second display portions by a frame rate controller using plural dither patterns having different compensation values. A data driver(122) supplies the modulated and non-modulated digital data to the data lines of the LCD panel. Gate drivers(123A,123B) supply scan pulses to the gate lines of the LCD panel. |
